Our Goals for Week in the Vines
- to share our love for Provence, its culture and its wines with the world
- to make the process of winemaking understandable to the average wine drinker
- to encourage people to expand their wine-drinking horizons
- to promote the artistic side of this living beverage
- to present a 'behind-the-scenes' look at the process of making wine
Our Activities / Learning the Creative Side of Winemaking
- Tours of caves/barrel rooms and tastings at wineries of different appellations that use different grapes
- A field tour and explanation of why the vines are positioned and grown as they are (pruning, trellising, etc.)
- The contrasting methods of winemaking -- traditional, bio, and mass-production methods as explained by the winemakers
- to make this an informal "family and friends" style trip
- AND to have a great time!

What is included for $1,750
- transport to and from the airport (MRS) or Avignon TGV station
- lodging at our villa in Goult
- ground transportation for visits to vineyards, historic villages, events
- first night's supper

What else you need to know
- we all contribute to the to the "kitty" for food and wine when we eat at the villa, this works well for our small groups (up to 8 people)
- we all take a turn with the cooking, etc.
- this is an informal, relaxed trip!

The First Day
- Pick-up at the airport in Marseille (MRS) or the TGV train station in Avignon
- A stop for lunch at a bistro along the way to our villa at Goult
- an "escale" at a wine cave (producer/co-op) for a tasting (degustation), and purchase of a bottle or two
to accompany supper
- a "escale" at the boulanger to pick-up some baguettes (a French staple at any meal!)
- arrival at our villa, La Gouiranne at Goult
- a walk in the village and environs for those who are interested
- lazing by the pool, reading, taking a siesta, etc. for those who prefer to settle-in at the villa
- supper on the terrasse "en famille" prepared by Tracey, a "bon cuisinier"
- discussion of the next day's activities
- early bed for those who may be jet-lagged!

- Visits to many historic hilltop villages and chateaux
- (Lacoste, Gordes, Bonnieux, etc.)
- Visits to historic sites, and places of interest in the region
- (Palais du Papes in Avignon, Pont du Gard, various markets, Abbey de Senanque, etc.)

The Second Day, and others ...
- early-birds head off to the boulangerie in the village to buy delicious croissants for breakfast
- Magnificent market day (Saturday in Apt) for food, wine, shopping, souvenirs ...
- visit to a vineyard, chateau, cave, wine-making activity with Tracey, meet his friends in the industry and learn about how wine is created!
- Lunch at a bistro
- continuation or new wine-related activity
- return to the villa for swimming, relaxing, free-time, etc
- supper on the terrace at the villa

- 4 bedrooms, sleeps 8 people
- 3 bedrooms, kitchen, salon on the first floor
- Shower/bath, separate WC on the first floor
- master bedroom has "en suite" bathroom
- 1 bedroom apartment on the ground floor with large bathroom and kitchenette
- swimming pool, large enclosed garden, bamboo grove
